Wanting to race 2022

Submitted by brian.kahrs@gm… on Wed, 07/14/2021 - 13:37

I'm very much wanting to race my 1980 C&C 40-2, Aeriagnie, in 2022. She's done the race twice with her previous owner, Cecile. I understand the wait list is closed, but I would be incredibly stoked to be added to the end of it, even if there is not much chance to make the cut with so much interest. I haven't been able to find anyone to connect with to discuss, and the SFYC didn't have contact information to share.

Does anyone know how I can go about getting in line, or who to bribe with rum? :)

Trailer Shipping

Submitted by sailingjack on Wed, 02/19/2020 - 12:57

Hi I was wondering if anybody was planning on shipping a trailer out to Hawaii for their boat to be returned. I have a 49er in SF I'd like to get to Hawaii and would like to try and get it on a trailer already headed out, I'd be willing to pay of course. Thanks in advance for any reply.

PCER 9.1, emergency water question

Submitted by bobwalden on Tue, 01/28/2020 - 07:36

says: “  1 gallon (3.785 liters) per crewmember of emergency drinking water in sturdy factory-sealed containers in addition to any other water carried aboard the boat and it shall be aboard after finishing. (Amendment of SER3.37)”

do grocery store 1 gallon containers satisfy this? If not (ie, not sturdy or sealed enough), what’s an example of a source for this? Kinda don’t want to order online emergency sealed containers for 6 gallons of water—a lot of shipping cost.

Any suggestions for a SF bay location that sells a product that satisfies this requirement?

Hi All

Have any small, double handed boats been able to get insurance for the Pac Cup?  Boat US won't insure for boats smaller than 30 feet with less than 4 crew.  We're double handing in an Express 27.  Checked with Chris Boome and even he can't do it.  Any help/advice is appreciated.

Crew List Effectiveness

Submitted by John Biscevic on Mon, 10/14/2019 - 12:27

Hi, how effective is the Crew List? Should I just wait and see if someone picks me up? Is there another way I can more actively seek out a crew position? I don't want to "stalk" skippers, but I'm wondering if there is a better way to find a crew spot than posting and waiting.

Advice? Thoughts? Trollish comments? :)

The Shipping Container

Howdy --

I know its early, but does anyone know the plans for the shipping container?  We are planning on spending the winter in Hawaii on Chance after the race; so, we are hoping to load cruising gear into the container.  What is the policy for what can and can not be shipped?  Specifically, we are having a new hard dinghy built and would like to make sure that we can ship it over in the container.  It will be ~ 10' long, but very light-- a carbon-fiber-epoxy technological miracle :-).
